Traditional yoga poses, tailored for pregnancy.

Preparing for birth is a big part of what we cover in pregnancy yoga. You'll learn how to move during labour and practice various birthing positions. The breathing techniques are specifically designed for pregnancy and childbirth. They’ll leave you feeling calm, confident, and in control. We also look at the pelvis, the core, and the pelvic floor muscles as they play such huge roles in pregnancy, childbirth, and after birth too! You'll learn how to strengthen and stretch them so that they're best prepared for labour and your postnatal journey.

We practice modified traditional yoga poses as well as pregnancy-specific flows. We focus on optimal foetal positioning and encouraging babies to get where they should be! We look at maintaining good posture by gently strengthening the key muscle groups, that naturally become weakened during pregnancy.

It’s important to remember that postnatal recovery starts in pregnancy! Keeping your body active and practicing Pregnancy Yoga is the perfect way to give your body a head start in the healing process after birth.

 FAQs

  • It’s a relaxing and restorative practice designed to help you feel comfortable, calm and in-control throughout your pregnancy. It’s a place to learn about your body and your baby as you start to prepare your mind and body for birth.

  • We welcome birthing people of all backgrounds from 12+ weeks pregnant. After you’ve had your 12 week scan in the UK and the equivalent of the 12 week pregnancy scan if you are out of the UK.

  • Absolutely not! Pregnancy Yoga should be practiced during labour and birth so you don’t have to stop at 40 weeks. The only occasion on which you’d need to stop Pregnancy Yoga is if you’ve been advised to stop all physical activity by your health care professional. If that’s the case you can ask them if you can still practice gentle stretches. Their response will be based on your specific medical reasons for being told to stop physical exercise but it’s always good to ask, as you could still be receiving a lot of the benefits from just gentle stretching and breathing exercises.

  • Pregnancy Yoga is designed specifically for your ever-changing pregnant body. Our specialist team of instructors know how to guide you through a practice that’s safe for both you, and your baby. We ensure that you don’t put too much pressure on your joints and we work specifically at relieving pressure around your body. We avoid things like getting you to lie down on your back and putting you in any position that puts pressure on your abdomen.

We always advise that you speak to your healthcare professional before taking part in any Pregnancy Yoga.
